An engine on your desktop / GE-005
Run it. Open it. Explore it.
A transparent, borderless Windows application brings the Chevrolet LS3 V8 to your desktop. Orbit, pan and zoom around the assembly, then reveal the moving parts beneath its castings.
Interactive educational software — not a physical engine, manufacturing CAD file or video.
Orbit / Pan / Zoom

Explore the engineering
A modern small-block, from every side.
Eight cylinders, aluminum castings, coil-near-plug ignition and a black composite intake give this LS3 its recognizable arrangement. The camshaft operates the valves through hydraulic roller lifters, pushrods and rockers.
Orbit the assembled engine, then compare the outer equipment with the Internal and stripped Combustion views. The reconstruction preserves the approved proportions, material identities and component hierarchy.

Explore the engineering
Separate the parts. Keep their size.
The full exploded view separates the independently modeled components with wide positional offsets. The crankshaft and camshaft remain cohesive, while each mesh component remains individually identifiable.
Explode never scales the engine or its parts, changes the camera or alters the field of view. Pan, orbit or zoom explicitly around the expanded assembly. Reassembly restores exact positions. This is an educational breakdown, not a service disassembly sequence.

Explore the engineering
Look into the pistons and crankshaft.
Cutaway opens one side of the designated outer castings and hides the exhaust, ignition and selected external-drive obstructions. The view exposes the piston, connecting-rod and crank relationships.
Run or pause the motion and move the camera to a useful position. This section is a presentation tool; hidden passages, casting contours and wall thicknesses are not dimensionally certified.

Explore the engineering
Follow the motion beneath the covers.
Watch the crankshaft turn, the connecting rods articulate and the pistons travel while the hydraulic-roller valvetrain follows its supplied motion. Valve-spring morphs and timing-chain deformation preserve the exported mechanism.
The engine opens running at 100 RPM. Run/Pause and the vertical 60–2200 RPM slider provide presentation control, with an 850 RPM Idle marker. Playback speed changes the actual animation; it does not calculate combustion pressure, torque or power.

Explore the engineering
Castings, exhaust and the working pump drive.
The side view shows the intake, ignition, exhaust and coolant connections around the central mechanism. The corrected water-pump drive adds a black six-rib belt, crank extension, return idler and manual tensioner.
The pump pulley and hub rotate while the aluminum housing and fixed coolant fittings stay still. The fitted reverse-drive ratio and supports are educational additions, not a claim that this is the factory-supplied crate accessory kit or a verified vehicle installation.

Explore the engineering
Nine finishes. Distinct materials.
Choose Original, Forest Green, White, Yellow, Red, Dark Blue, Black, Silver Grey or Bare Metal. Original restores the approved factory-inspired casting appearance. Your selected finish persists between sessions.
Only designated casting surfaces recolor. Valve covers, oil pan, composite intake, aluminum throttle housing, water-pump housing and its fixed aluminum fittings retain their stock finishes. Exhaust, rubber, wiring, machined surfaces, rotating internals and hardware keep their original materials.

Explore the engineering
From the camshaft to the valves.
Inspect cycles through Full, Internal and stripped Combustion views. The third view exposes the crankshaft, pistons, rods, camshaft, roller lifters, pushrods, rockers, valves and springs.
Explore offers four camera targets and individual component identification. Select a visible part for its name and description, then dismiss the reversible highlight. The compact information panel stays at the top with a maximum of two lines.

Controls and Windows compatibility
Every fresh launch starts running at 100 RPM. Click the engine to reveal controls. Left drag places the desktop window; middle drag or arrows orbit; right drag pans; wheel or +/− zooms. Shift gives fine keyboard navigation. E: Explode. C: Cutaway. I: Full / Internal / Combustion. R: Reset. L: placement lock. Home: Recover. Explore provides four camera targets and part identification.
Window position, lock, camera and color preferences persist. The application sits behind ordinary windows on your desktop; minimize them to see it. The 60–2200 RPM slider controls animation presentation speed, not the factory operating range. Tested on Windows with NVIDIA RTX 3050; short running observations were approximately 60 FPS, without a universal hardware or long-session performance guarantee.
Download and first launch
Download the Windows ZIP after checkout and extract the complete folder to a writable location. Launch LS3_V8_Owner_Test.exe; the tested internal filename and owner-test window label are retained. Keep the matching .pck and DesktopEngineHost.exe together. Do not launch the helper separately. No Blender or Godot installation is needed, and this portable version does not require an installer.
The portable application is unsigned. No code-signing or universal compatibility claim is made. Contact Wolfgang Engineering if you need help with your download.
Reference specifications and educational scope
Reference basis: Chevrolet Performance LS3 crate 19435098, Gen IV 90-degree V8, 376 cubic inches / 6.2 litres, 4.065 × 3.622-inch bore and stroke, aluminum block and heads, hydraulic roller camshaft, electronic fuel injection and 10.7:1 compression ratio. These describe the reference engine, not calculated software output or dimensional certification.
Educational reconstruction, not factory CAD, repair instructions, parts-ordering data, metrology or fabrication guidance. Accepted V1 bank-stagger/block-casting limitations remain for future improvement. Castings, manufactured forms, hidden passages, accessory routing and motion/contact details include approximations.
The headers and minimal water-pump drive are fitted educational additions, not factory-supplied crate equipment. Its 5:3 reverse-pump ratio, crank extension, idler and locked manual tensioner are not factory-kit specifications. The belt is a stationary continuous envelope; pulley and hub motion follows the supplied drive. No belt tension/load, fluid-flow, combustion-force, engine-sound or ECU simulation is supplied. Fast rotating parts can show display-sampling aliasing.
